Dungeon Master Supreme - Gary Gygax RIP

Photo taken by Alan De Smet at GenCon Indy 2007

Gary Gygax, co-creator of the highly popular role playing game Dungeons & Dragons passed away today. He was 69 years old.

In addition to being one of the fathers of D&D, Gygax initiated the first GenCon in 1967 (at his home) with 100 people attending.

He is survived by his wife and six children...as well as his D&D co-creator Dave Arneson.

Rest in Peace, sir.

  1. I started play AD&D back in 1980 and still play (although on very rare occasions now).. it was definitely a sad day when I heard that Gary Gygax had passed away. He inspired millions and will continue to. Paladins, Magic Users, and even Half-Orcs everywhere pay homage.
